DIY Cheesecake

I made this cheesecake by myself!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup digestive biscuits

1/6 cup melted butter

0.75 tablespoon gelatine dissolved 1/6 cup of boiling water

1/4 cup cream

1/4 cup milk

3/8 cup sugar

250g cream cheese

Method:

Mix butter and biscuit in blender, press into the base of dish, chill. Beat cream cheese until smooth, add sugar, milk and gelatine mixture. Fold in cream, pour onto biscuit base. Chill

Reporting to Clinic

The staff at the clinic counter said, "I see you almost every week!"

True enough, I report to the clinic almost alternate weeks... since Pei Pei moved back home last December, both Hao Hao and her take turn to fall sick. And this week, both of them were sick. Both had fever and soar throat on Monday. Pei Pei complaint about painful mouth, but we thought it was just soar throat, but when Hao Hao developed high fever on Friday and doc diagnosed him to have hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD), then we suspected that Pei Pei also had a mild version of HFMD earlier on.

Pei Pei recovered faster than Hao Hao, though she still has cough and phlegm, she could still eat and play as normal, and she was even fit to go out.

However, poor Hao Hao is badly affected by his illness. My heart sank when the doc showed me he had numerous ulcers in his throat and mouth. The poor boy wanted to eat, but whenever he tried to eat something, the pain was so unbearable that he spit out the food and cried in pain. To keep him hydrated, we had to force feed him porridge water using syringe. He struggled when we fed him, it must be very painful, but we had no choice. He kept crying and wanted us to carry him. But we are glad that he is recovering, at least he could eat some noodles today, and he is more lively than Friday.

It had been many sleepless nights for us when the kids were sick, as they could not sleep well. Well, this is part of parenthood... when I was pregnant, I thought it was very tough. Now when I think about this, pregnancy is nothing compared to caring and parenting the children.

Now I just hope that I do not need to report to the clinic so frequently. It pains my heart when I see my beloved babies are unwell.

Hot Dates with Pei Pei

It has been a while since I had a date with Pei Pei. This week I had 2 dates with her, to have undivided attention for this little girl who becomes a big sis at only 14-month old.

We had lunch at Compass Point on Tuesday, then we went to library to read books, and then did some window shopping.

So sweet!

Pei Pei wondered who on earth is that. But was still willing to take a photo with this "alien".

On Friday, we went to Orchard to do some shopping. The little dancer saw a little stage at Orchard Central, and as the shop was blasting music, she climbed on to the stage and started to groove to the music.

Pei Pei was very sweet. As I carried her to walk along Orchard Road, it was very hot, when we crossed the roads under the hot sun, she used her puzzle to cover my head from the sunlight. As my arms were very tired and did not carry her high enough, her puzzle kept hitting my eyes instead! But nevertheless, I was very touched by my little sweetheart.

Hao Hao is 18-Month Old!

Hao Hao is 18-month old!

Hao Hao can walk very fast, almost like running.

The TV-addict is very focused, especially when watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He will dance when he hears the "Hot Dog" dance music.

He also does actions when he hears "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", "Itsy Winsy Spider" and "Head and Shoulder". Think he has been listening to these songs when he was in MaMi's tummy, so he responds to these songs.

The Mini-Me starts to have a say in what he wants, points at things that he wants, and fusses when he does not get them.

Hao Hao's favourite person is 婆婆. Every time when 婆婆 leaves our house, he would cry. He can sense that 婆婆 is going back to her home when we reach home after work, so he clings to 婆婆. But when we leave the house, he would wave bye-bye to us, and continues to play or watch TV, does not really bother about us!

His favourite things are his 臭臭枕頭 (a boltster) and pacifier which he calls "mummum". Since babyhood, we give him the boltster for security, and now it is his security object. But he would reject it for a while when we wash the cover, and thus loses that "special" smell.

A smiling boy, he is very popular and well-liked by the "aunties" at the hawker centre where 婆婆 works during weekends. He can be 師奶殺手!

Pei Pei is 32-Month Old!

Pei Pei is 32-month old!

She has determination in getting things that she wants... or can say that she is kinda stubborn. She would cry and scream when her "orders" are not met.

She does not allow DiDi to watch TV, play toys and so on. But when there are friends coming to our house, her attitude towards DiDi changes totally!

Pei Pei is not afraid of visiting Dr. Tan, the doctor whom I visited since I was young. She remembers him as "Uncle who gives sweets", and whenever she sees Dr. Tan, she cooperates very well - opens her mouth widely, pulls up her top for doc to check... and she would give doc high-5 before she leaves the consultation room. She is also very "on" about taking medicine, she drinks from a small medicine cup and does not fuss at all. But she doesn't like eye drops and would struggle when we try to apply eye drops.

Pei Pei has also embarked her first step to toilet-training. She refuses to sit on potty, but is willing to sit on the baby toilet seat on the toilet bowl. And she likes the idea of making things in the toilet bowl "disappear" by pressing the flush button.

Pei Pei likes this tee made by MaMi... she keeps saying that word is 妹妹...

It seems that she does not really like outdoor activities under hot sun...

5th ROM Anniversary with Fondant Chocolate Cake

It is our 5th ROM Anniversary!

We celebrated at Tontei @Nex, a peaceful meal for just 2 of us.

Successful attempt to make fondant chocolate cake (lava cake) for Dear! See the lava flowing out! A bit burnt though...

Ingredients:

Dark chocolate 50 g

Butter 40 g

Sugar 20 g

Egg x1

Flour 3 tablespoons

Steps:

Cut the chocolate and butter into small pieces, place in a bowl and put into microwave oven for 1 minute
Mix the egg, sugar and flour into the chocolate and butter
Heat in toaster for 5 minutes

It is so simple! Crispy crust with molten chocolate within is prepared within 20 minutes!

Pei Pei's Toilet Training Part 1

There was a time when Pei Pei was willing to sit on potty. But now she refuses totally. No choice but to make her skip this and sit on toilet bowl with baby toilet seat. Glad that she does not resist. Today she finally make her first "landing" into the toilet bowl!

Bought cloth diaper for her, but the cutting is too small for her thighs. Even bought training pants for her. Think I shall get her disposable pull up pants soon!

My colleague asked me whether my hubby buy me flower on V-day, my response was "If he buys me flower, I will go to buy 4D!"

Surprise! He put a rose at the shelf where Qiang Qiang (the V-day present years back) sits. I did not realise until I told him about what I told my colleague, then he told me to buy 4D...

I also gave him a big present... a burnt fondant chocolate (lava cake) with extra laundry work! It was my first attempt to make the cake using the toaster. Who knows the cake was burnt with flame when I opened the toaster door, and the whole house was smoked out!!! The clothes hung in the kitchen became smelly due to the smoke! My friend said "愛火在燃燒"! :p

We went to Sentosa Flower World. It was Pei Pei and Hao Hao's first time to Sentosa!

The siblings wore 姐弟裝 designed by me. They attracted some attention during our journey... Pei Pei likes this new tee.

Hao Hao is 17-Month Old!

Hao Hao is 17-month old!

Hao Hao's first word is "mummum" (eat). Unlike most babies whose first few words are single syllable, Hao Hao is able to say MaMi - he calls MaMi, DaDi and 婆婆 "MaMi"! He can also say "no more" with hand signalling no more, and he can say 下雨 and 一二.

He can climb upstairs, and is learning to climb downstairs. He has also mastered drinking from straw cup.

Hao Hao is very loving, when he sees Pei Pei cry, he would sayang her head.

He finally is willing to hold milk bottle by himself. Think he sees Pei Pei holding milk bottle by herself, so he 有樣學樣.

Road Terrors

It is really unlucky to encounter a few terrible drivers on the road recently.

Last week when I was driving along the first lane, a taxi driver drove from taxi stand, cut the second lane and headed almost perpendicularly to my car without signalling! Luckily it did not hit my car, but it was really really frightening.

Then a few days ago, a bus cut from second lane into the first lane which I was driving. The bus had already cut into my lane then the driver started to signal. It was too late. Though I managed to slow down to give way to that bus, unfortunately, another reckless driver could not stop in time and hit the back of my car. She apologised and promised to compensate, but so what? I wasted the whole day to see doctor, make police report, make insurance claim... and worst of all, I develop phobia in driving.

Another encounter when we were reverse parking our car. A driver drove so close to our car that it almost hit our car. When we signalled him to reverse and even honk, he did not respond. Not until Dear opened the window and told him to reverse, then he just reversed a bit. Waste everyone's time.

Saw an incident in carpark when a driver reversed his car and hit directly onto another car, and this irresponsible driver drove off immediately.

It is just terrifying to have such road terrorists around, who have no concept of safety. Why should they harm others' life and property? They are so inconsiderate, irresponsible and self-centred. Perhaps they would wake up only if they themselves or their loved ones suffer from another inconsiderate drivers.

Safe driving does not mean accident free, because there are other drivers who do not drive safely.

The little singer's latest version of birthday song goes like this "Happy birth 快樂!"

The little dancer loves to dance while singing or dance along with TV programme. That day she saw a teenager player Dance Dance Revolution at the entrance of arcade, she nearly stepped on the dance mat to dance along with the teenager!

When she started school, she did not like to wash her hair. Now she is very "on" about washing hair and bathing.

Call her little eggie... she loves to eat "雞蛋" and eats one everyday. She also loves to drink soup, even veggie soup.

Hao Hao is very sweet, when I say "抱抱", then he would say "抱抱", walks towards me with arms open, gives me a big hug and pats my back.

He can climb up stairs, but still has not learnt how to climb downstairs.

He can also nod and shake his head. He looks so cute when he shakes his head, as if he is doing Bollywood dance.

Hao Hao is quite good in using spoon to feed himself, though still has problem to feeding himself noodles... only 50% of noodles land in his mouth.

When he sees his JieJie throw tantrum and gets scoldings by us, he would walk towards his JieJie to take a look, then smiles... 幸災樂禍.

Hao Hao can pronounce "MaMi", "DaDi", "PoPo", but think he has not really understood the meaning yet.

When Hao Hao drops something or does something bad, he would point and say "orh..."

Pei Pei is 30-Month Old!

Pei Pei is 30-month old!

Within a few weeks, she seems to grow much taller... she is now about 90 cm... is "eligible" to pay bus / MRT fare...

Pei Pei is more adapted to school life. Sometimes she wants to carry the big Mickey Mouse bag on her own. Her bag contains diapers, mattress cover, 2 sets of clothes, bathing towel, milk bottle, milk powder container, and water bottle... not that light after all, and she can carry it herself!

When some strangers look at her and Hao Hao, she always likes to introduce her little brother to the strangers, pointing at him and tells the strangers, "Hao Hao!" But at times, she bullies her brother when she wants to snatch the toys... she uses her tummy to "bounce" DiDi off and grabs the toy.

She can be very sweet sometimes. She would hug MaMi from the back, and she is now more willing to hug and be hugged, and more willing to kiss and be kissed. She is super cute when she pretends to "whisper", then give us a "pretend-to-be-shy" smile!

Pei Pei can hold the spoon in her right hand, and folk in her left hand, and feed herself using both hands.

The carnivore would say "不要吃菜" when we tell her it is time to "mummum". Look at her bowl, meat and meat and meat only.

Whenever she sees camera, she would automatically smiles widely, but a bit too wide sometimes...

Riding a horse at her favourite hang-out... the place is what she calls "踢球" - Ikea Tampines!

My resolution for the new year:

spend more time to learn about parenting, blogging about my kids and motherhood... rather than spending time on online shopping
learn to cook (other than baby porridge, plain rice and instant noodles)
be more forgiving when there are baddies - don't boil my own blood so easily!

Most importantly, I wish myself, my family and my friends have good health and be happy!

Another eventful year for me!

After having taken 2 maternity leaves in 2008 and 2009, finally have worked for 1 whole year. To many people, this is nothing special, but to me, it is another new beginning - being working mum with TWO kids. Pei Pei has been staying with her grandparents during weekdays until November, then in December she moved back home and started to attend childcare centre. Glad that I have school holiday, so I have time to adapt myself to have 2 kids at home ALL the time. When I start working in January, I hope I'll be able to cope.

Another big step that I had made is to conduct small business by myself. Though I had given private tuition since school days, this time I set up blogshops to sell things. Started off with AquaDoodle toy, which was quite successful, then I tried to be spree organiser to bring in products from Taiwan and Germany, which requires time and effort but little returns. Subsequently, I tried to bring in wet bag and hair cutting clips, even tried to design kids' tee and romper, the response was not so good. This setback brought me into reconsideration about conducting business.

In this year, I also have 2 changes: accept drinking coffee and the idea of online-shopping. In the past, I don't drink coffee as I would need to go to washroom after drinking coffee. But after drinking instant coffee from Vietnam, I start to like the taste and do not need to go to the washroom each time I drink it. In the past, I preferred shopping in shops so that I can see and try the real product. But having 2 kids now make it very difficult to do shopping, one will run to the east and the other to the west! So online-shopping becomes an easier way to get things I need.

I've also picked up sewing... which I thought I couldn't during my secondary school days. My workmanship still needs improvement! The more important skill that I have learnt this year is how to handle kids who are at / approaching terrible-two!

Goodbye 2010! I hope 2011 will be a better year for me and my family!

The Polliwogs

We went to The Polliwogs at East Coast Park yesterday.

They were a bit scared when they stepped into the pool of balls at first. Test water at the side first...

After a while, Hao Hao cried for rescue in the pool of balls, while Pei Pei was happily getting herself "drowned" by the balls.

Poor MaMi had to follow Pei Pei to go through all those "obstacle course"... very tiring...

Pei Pei was quite daring to walk along the beam at first, but half way through she was scared...

It seems that Pei Pei enjoy much more than Hao Hao, as Hao Hao is still to young to climb up and down.

Sew With Love Project No.2

After the "pillowcase" dress, another Sew With Love project - diaper pouch - a lined pouch with zipper! The outer fabric is designer fabric Michael Miller, and inner lining fabric is polka dots.

"Stress"test - managed to squeeze in 2 x L diapers, 2 x XL diapers, 1 x traveller pack baby wipe, 1 x 50ml Dettol instant hand sanitizer and some disposable bibs!

Last Thursday Huiluan, Shuyang and Lyncoln came to my house for our annual Christmas gathering. Huiluan bought Thai food for dinner. As the kids slept early, we had great chit-chat until midnight. Our annual practice - present exchange! Thanks for the presents! (^.^)

We went to Ikea Tampines on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Guess going to Ikea Tampines is like going downstairs for us... since the kids like to play there and we also find the food quite nice (though start to feel a bit sian...)

Not to forget, Christmas present for myself - another pair of Birkenstock sandals! For the kids, they have their favourite character Mickey Mouse books. Pei Pei is so happy with her new books, or rather, the Mickey Mouse box!

我要上學

Did not expect Pei Pei to say this so soon... she said "我要上學" last week, and initiated to wear uniform.

Though for the following few days she would fuss for a while before leaving home - most likely because she is woken up by her DaDi even though she still wants to sleep - she did not fuss on the way to school and was willing to be carried by teachers at the school gate.

For the past weeks, I would fetch her at 12 noon after their lunch and shower time. Today I fetched her at 230pm after their nap time. Teacher told me that she had a nap... I was surprise as she usually does not take afternoon nap at home!

That day she saw teacher helping her classmate to tie hair, and she asked teacher to tie for her! She did not let me to tie her hair in the past! Think she 有樣學樣...

Pei Pei also likes to arrange toys, books and chairs in a straight line, possibly another example of 有樣學樣... but she has also learnt to hit table or door when she loses her temper. I hope she would learn more good things than bad things from school.

Pei Pei in School Uniform

Pei Pei looks so cute in her oversized uniform!

On the first day when we left her with school (last Tuesday), she cried very badly when teacher closed the gate. We hid behind the window and saw her crying and screaming. One hour later, we went into the "hiding place" to see her and she was still whining. When we fetched her from school, she cried very loudly when she saw us. We rewarded her with one of her favourite candy. The poor gal had nightmare at night.

On the second day, when she saw the uniform, she started to cry. She clinched on to her DaDi and refused to be carried by teacher. Then the teachers brought them to walk around the neighbourhood and we heard her cry from 13th floor! But the improvement was that she started to accept the teachers help her bath after lunch. The poor gal had nightmare again.

On the following days, she still cries in the morning when she sees the uniform. According to the teachers, she cries less and less as days pass, and today, teacher told us that she didn't cry after we left! Great improvement!

We are looking forward to the day when she wears her uniform happily.

Hao Hao is 15-Month Old!

Hao Hao is 15-month old!

After attending a playdate with other babies born in September 2009, Hao Hao is more daring to walk by himself, and within 1 week, he has become a proficient walker! At home, he keeps walking non-stop!

Hao Hao shows there is "no more" by waving his hands, and gives a cute expression that there is no more!

As Pei Pei moves back to home, he has more opportunities to fight with his sis. In the past, when Pei Pei snatched something from him, he would just grumble and then forgot about it. Now he would throw the object away rather than being snatched by Pei Pei. Sometimes he would cry loudly and points at Pei Pei, as if he is telling us who is bullying him!

Hao Hao expresses what he wants by pointing at the object and keeps making noise until he gets it.

It is not fun to make him angry. He would cry and lie on the floor. When one is carrying him, he would struggle and "jump" like a worm, need to have a lot of arm power to hold him!

Pei Pei's 1st Day in School (Again)

Pei Pei goes to school again. In January, she attended school for 1 week and fell sick, so her Grandma offered to look after her for another year. Now as she is older, we send her to school again, and this time she is enrolled to one that is near our house.

When we reached the school in the morning, it was play time, and she seemed to enjoy herself with all the toys. But she kept walking away from her class and went to another side of the classroom to play with toys that she wanted to play. When the teacher tried to bring her back to her own class, she would fuss.

The same thing happened during lunch time, she did not want to sit still at her chair and wanted to sit somewhere else. Luckily when lunch was served, she fed herself and was the first one in the class to finish the bowl of porridge! So proud of her.

The problem came during shower time after lunch. She refused to let the teacher to bath for her. At home, she sits in a tub to bath, while the teacher uses a scoop to pour water on her, she is not used to this way of bathing. No choice but MaMi helped to bath her.

Hope she can adapt to the new environment soon.

Pei Pei is 29-Month Old!

Pei Pei is 29-Month Old!

She has learnt to jump with both feet off the ground. When she holds MaMi and DaDi's hands when we go out, she keeps jumping!

She can count (or rather, recite) 1 to 10 in English and Mandarin, though sometimes she misses certain numbers.

Sometimes when things happen and we ask her who did it, she would answer "DiDi" even though it is nothing to do with him.

When DiDi does something wrong, for example, when DiDi steps into the kitchen or stands too close to TV, she would pull DiDi... acting like a big sis.

Mini-Me is very demanding, always wants everyone to obey her, and cries loudly or even sits on the floor when she is not happy.

She is going to school again next week, another childcare centre which is near our house. Hope she will adapt to the new environment soon.

Pei Pei put this funny hat herself at Ikea, and then tried to force DiDi to wear.

We brought Hao Hao to Suntect City and Marina Square today. Set off after his lunch and went home at 8+pm. Kinda long day out for Hao Hao.

Had lunch (or rather tea) at Kenny Roger's.

After accompanying me to do some shopping, Hao Hao went to meet 周公 for a while (nap time), so we had some time to have a drink at Starbucks quietly.

When they saw the play house toy, they forgot about their parents and were happily playing with the toy!

The last time I touched sewing machine was during Sec 1-2 Home Econs lessons... I can still remember that the sewing homeworks - a skirt and a bag - were mainly done by my mum.

Did not expect myself to develop interest in sewing... until I saw a piece of designer fabric imported from US, then I decided to sew something with it.

Sew with Love Project no. 1 - a pillowcase dress for Pei Pei! My first attempt to sew all by myself! I'm quite proud of myself keke!

See what else can I make from that 1 metre of fabric!

Initially Pei Pei did not want to wear this dress, as she is more comfortable with her usual clothes. But after we managed to make her wear this, she likes it so much that she wanted to wear to sleep that night! She wore her sleeping clothes and wore the dress outside!

I have also bought a few other pieces of fabric, still deciding what to do with them...

Super belated birthday celebration for Dear. We celebrated at Tao's Restaurant at POMO (former Paradiz Centre).

This restaurant serves fusion crusine in form of 7-course dinner. The food is very nice!

Followed by salad, fruit salad and topshell with japanese noodles. I like fruit salad, it looks like a cake! With shredded crab meat on top and pieces of fruit at the bottom, the combination of tastes are refreshing. The beverages rose apple tea and summer peach tea are quenching, I thought I would prefer peach tea, but after tasting, I like rose apple tea better as it is sweeter. The complementary beverage green tea with berries is innovative and taste great. Both cream of mushroom and fish soup served in Japanese style are yummy. For the main dishes, slow cook pork rib by Tao's is the best pork rib I have ever eaten! The meat is so soft, and it is perfect with the sauce.

Thumbs up for their service! As we were deciding what to order, one of the waiters gave us recommendations and honest comment about which one is better. Almost at each dish, one of the staffs would come over and ask how we find the food. Whenever a guest comes in or leaves the restaurant, all the staffs would greet welcome or thank you. When we paid the bill, the waiter did not forget to remind us what we can try during our next visit. Where else can you find such service?

Hao Hao is 14-month old!

Hao Hao has attempted to walk a few steps on his own. He still prefers crawling or being carried by us to walking on his own.

He likes to babble a lot. He can "talk" for almost half an hour during car ride. His first word is "mummum" (eating). He also knows "gai gai" (going out). He can pronounce "ba ba" and "ma ma", and 婆婆 heard him say "貓咪" a few days ago. Not sure if he understands the meaning of those words.

Hao Hao has also learnt to wave goodbye when someone is leaving. He is learning to play with the shape sorter, he would clap when we praise him for putting the shapes in. With good understanding of how to use TV remote controller, he can switch on / off TV and changes channel for us (unintentionally).

During bath time, he tries to press out the bathing lotion and then "wash" his hair... so funny!

Sometimes she would hit DiDi when fighting for toys, but she would "sayang" and kiss DiDi when we tell her that it is wrong to hit DiDi.

The Queen of the house, we have to obey her command. If she wants DaDi push DiDi's pram, I cannot touch the pram... If she wants me to keep her hat, DaDi cannot take her hat... When her command is not obeyed, she will be very angry. Little Me...

Pei Pei likes to help to push DiDi's pram... she also likes to pull down the cover of the pram to "hide" DiDi and tells us "DiDi 不見了!"

She finally accepts wearing hair clip, she used to dislike it so much that she would pull it whenever I tried to clip her hair.

Strong arm power! She can do this for a few seconds!

My Spree-ing Story

Some of you would have known that I started an online blogshop on overseas. And my first spree is kids' and ladies' fashion from Taiwan. I would say that the clothes (including the shipping cost) are really cheap compared with some local blogshops and shopping centres. And the quality is quite good too!

I thought it is quite simple to conduct a spree. But after being listed for one month in the S'pore motherhood forum, I would say that it is a tough job!

Things to do:

contact the Taiwanese suppliers and check with their terms and conditions
craft my posting in the forum including crafting terms and conditions carefully
take order from email and forum posting
copy the orders into my spreadsheet
collect money via internet banking
email and check with various suppliers for availability
inform buyers if their orders are out of stock
take in orders of replacement and check with suppliers again
pay suppliers via PayPal or credit card
refund the buyers via internet banking
sort the products when they arrive my house
"scold" the suppliers when they send the wrong items and demand them to send me the correct ones and inform the buyers concerned about the wrong items
go to post office every now and then to send the parcels
wait for the courier service staff to pick up parcel from my house
meet some buyers who opt for self-collection

Yes, that is the list of things to do... very tedious! My email inbox for once was flooded, and my IB token overworked for the past one month! Sorting alone is super tedious, as some suppliers do not label the product code even I requested, so I had sort according to the photos from their website!

One of the suppliers was very disgusting. I think they have different staffs to respond to emails. Initially, the first one is very friendly to answer questions before I place order. When I placed order, another staff took over and sounded very unfriendly. When I had some enquiry, this staff sounded very irritated and used hostile tone to answer, as if I was a fool! I felt like cancelling the orders straight away, but I still had to answer my buyers, so no choice but to proceed with the order. Though the next staff in charge of payment and shipping was very friendly, I decided not to buy from them again. And this supplier overcharged PayPal handling fee, which was much higher than what was stated in the initial terms and condition! That is ridiculous!!!

Another supplier takes forever to reply. But because this store carries a lot of nice design at a reasonable price and many of my buyers buy from this supplier, so I had to continue to order from them.

Some buyers are also one kind. One person emailed and asked about the shipping rate on some super bulky items, then she started to compare my rate with another spree organiser's rate. That was an unfair comparison! Because she used to order lighter items from another organiser, how can she compared apple with orange? Moreover, I never used a gun to point at her head to make her buy from me, why she doesn't go ahead to order from another organiser and started to comment so much? I simply replied her to tell her go and order from another organiser. Weirdo.

Then another buyer is not appreciative. When the supplier sent one of her orders wrongly, I requested the supplier to send the correct one, and kept her update about this. But she was totally not appreciative and sounded so unfriendly in her email.

There was one buyer super blur, she forgot about the meeting with me and did not pick up the call from me after waiting for her for 10 minutes. Lucky I was meeting a few buyers at one time. Then she wanted to come to my block at super late hours to collect. So inconsiderate and irresponsible!

The courier service is also a headache. They failed to come within the time they promised. Lucky I was not going out that day, else time was wasted in waiting for them. I had to call to complain and then they claimed that it was because they did not have enough manpower as two delivery staffs were absent, but that is their problem, why should they transfer their problem to their client?

Lessons learnt...

But there are also pleasant moments. There was one buyer who kept flooding my email for her ever-changing order, but she was one of the appreciative buyers who left a post in forum to thank me. Some buyers whom I met are friendly and turned up for meeting on time.

It is right to say that the start up cost is not very high, I only need to pay listing fee in the forum, but honestly, the profit is not proportional to the work involved.

Not to forget ordering some clothes for myself and my kids!

Pei Pei is 26-month old!

She is now able to wear socks and shoes correctly, all by herself! We did not really teach her how to do it. The observant girl has learnt by herself. She even offers to help DiDi to wear his socks!

A polite girl, Pei Pei sometimes would say "Thank you" when she snatches toys from DiDi!

As Pei Pei spent more time with her grandparents who speak Mandarin most of the time, her command of Mandarin is better than English. She can even sing in Hokkien "我問天" which is the chorus from the Taiwanese drama series 愛.

Since babyhood, she has been sensitive to camera. Now she would pose and say "笑" when she sees us pointing our camera at her. She would then snatch the camera to 自拍!

Hao Hao is 11-month old! One more month to one year birthday! The whole nation celebrated today (because National Day lah)!

He is now able to cruise for a short distance while pushing a chair or bouncer. His crawling speed is very fast... especially when he starts right in front of TV and we switch it off, he would crawl very fast to us and "asks" us to switch on TV for him.

Hao Hao would show that he is not pleased by waving his hands or kicking his legs. When Pei Pei fights with him for toys, he would cry loudly.

When he is in good mood, he would give his widest smile like this.

I Did It Again

The last time I did it was 6 years ago... at Sentosa. Last Sat, I did it again!

It was charity run for my work place. It is the third time that my work place organises the run, but it was my first time taking part, as I had valid reason not to run in the past 2 years... due to pregnancy keke.

6 years ago, I completed 10 km run with Dear in Nike Real Run. My first long distance run with Dear. For myself, it was the third long distance run... the first one was half-marathon 10 years back, and the second one 10 km Causeway Run during my uni days.

I always thought I would not want to run long distance again. Because I do not have time, or rather, too lazy to train.

In the charity run, female runners are given 1 hour 45 min to run as far as possible. Before that day, I told myself, just complete 10 km and stop. But on the day, when so many people were running and others cheering, I was motivated to continue to run, although I completed 10 km in 1 hour 11 min. I kept on jogging at a super slow pace and clocked a total of 14 km.

Kinda achievement for me, who has not really trained for so many years! *A pat on my own shoulder.

It saves quite a lot of $$ to buy certain stuffs online!

That day I saw Papillio sandals at Birkenstock outlet, that series of sandals cost at least $89. Then I came across an overseas spree, and I bought this pair of sandals at only $44.49!!!

I also saw some sprees on ladies fashion, the price is so attractive, for example less than $10 for a dress including shipping. So tempted. But I still prefer try the clothes on myself before purchasing the clothes... some clothes just look good on the models but not on myself haha.

Sometimes we also buy babies' diaper and milk powder from motherhood forum. This really save us a lot of $$.

With 2 kids, it is much easier to buy certain stuffs online. Can you imagine 4 itchy hands (Pei Pei and Hao Hao's hands) messing up the stuffs on the shelves in a shop, or 2 screaming kids when they get bored while you are deciding which dress you want to buy?

Pei Pei is 25-month old!

Because she spent more time with her grandparents, who usually speak Mandarin, Pei Pei seems to have better command of Chinese language than English. She can say 洗衣服,褲,杯,謝謝 etc. She can also link 3 words to form a simple phrase like 爸爸 / MiMi / 爺爺 / 奶奶抱抱珮珮.

Pei Pei becomes more and more like 管家婆. She observed that whenever DiDi stands in front of TV, we will pull him away. Now without us saying anything, she will go ahead, scolds "DiDi NO NO!!" and pulls him away from TV.

Hao Hao can hold on to furniture and cruise a few steps! He can crawl very fast from one end of the house to the other end.

Other than "mmmmmm...mama", he can also make sounds like "bababa" and "rarara". He can talk to himself for more than 10 minutes! He also likes to scream "ahhhh!!!" when he is excited.

Depends on his mood, he can be quite friendly sometimes, smiling at strangers. But he definitely refuses people other than DaDi, MaMi and 婆婆 to carry him.

People say Hao Hao is a smaller version of his DaDi...

This post should be posted last Sunday, Father's Day... this was written to nominate Dear in a SuperDad contest. It was meant to be a surprise for him. But it was not a surprise anymore when the company called him for phone interview. Though not shortlisted, we always love our SuperDad!

"Though Daddy does not have the "built-in equipment" to feed baby, he would wake up in midnight to carry baby to Mummy, and then pats baby to sleep after feeding. The hands-on Daddy is also good in changing diaper and bathing baby. The IT guru is resourceful in getting cheap and good quality baby essentials online, and did research on breast pumps for Mummy. Daddy handles the household chores although he is tired after work. Being a father of two, he plays with them, and encourages the elder daughter to share toys with the younger son and to love him."

My Dream Came True... Sort of...

Since uni days, I had dreamt of becoming a business person, inspired by my father who became a businessman at a young age. Private tuition is not counted, I wanted to sell something.

But since I started work, I feel so comfortable to have a stable salary. And now I have dependents and have to pay house loan, so it is necessary to have steady income. It is very difficult to get out of this comfort zone!

Is it my destiny to be an employee all my life? Frankly speaking, I still have to hold on to my job to keep my stable income for the sake of my family. So one way is to make my dream come true by taking it as part-time.

As a start, I decided to sell children related stuffs online. But first, I have to break my mental barrier - afraid of failure. There is no guarantee that profit will be made.

Though I have never studied Business or Economies, I understand that there is a need to do market research in order to decide what to sell. It has to be something that has market demand, and something that is unique so as to minimise competition. After some studies, these are what I sold - AquaDoodle Toy! I bought this toy for my kids and they like it, and I think it is a wonderful toy!

It was not a smooth journey though. I made mistakes.

I started off by asking some online forum friends whether they were interested, because there is a minimum order quantity to meet. The response was not enough. So I paid the forum some money to post a pre-order thread. As I was worried that I could not get hold of the stock for those who had paid me, I went ahead to order before the pre-order period was closed . That was the first mistake. By the time I ordered from the supplier, there was no more ready stock and I had to wait another 2 weeks for the next shipment. I could have made my order to the supplier after my pre-order period was closed, since I have to wait anyway.

That was not all. The most silly mistake that I made was to pay full amount to the supplier upon ordering! After that the supplier informed me that I only need to make deposit, no need to pay full! How stupid I was! How could I forget to ask how much I need to pay upon ordering! I was a bit demoralised for committing such silly mistake!

There are other hiccups.

As it was my first time buying from this particular supplier, I was quite afraid that she would run away with my money! When come to payment, she was fast to respond, but when come to my requests, she took years to reply and avoid answering some of my questions. And worst of all, the shipment kept delaying. When the items arrived, the number of one design is not enough to meet my order! I started to think that this supplier is not reliable. But anyway, I made a decision to get replacement by another design, hoping that my buyers are willing to swap. I was really lucky that my buyers are so understanding, they are willing to get another design without asking me too many questions!

Some people emailed me and asked some questions, but did not buy in the end. That is perfectly fine. But there was a particular pest who kept flooding my email, asking many questions, even asked me the cost of similar products in major toy stores! It is ok to ask questions, but then she started to bargain when she only wanted to buy 1 set! And in one of the email, she started to compare price, and commented that she was buying from me because another seller ran out of stock! There is a possibility that she lied in order to lure me to give her discount, as she did not mention or email me the link of that another seller! After all the hoo-haa, she did not buy! That is so irritating, wasting my precious time responding to her. Then I saw this disgusting person buying similar product in another thread, and again she kept bugging another thread.

Good lessons learnt. It was really an eye-opener for me, who has been working in relatively peaceful environment. I understand that I still have to meet expectation in my role as employee, as well as to take care of my family, but I hope I can make my dream really come true one day.

Clay Target Shooting

Brought the students to attend an introductory course on clay target shooting - using shotgun to shoot moving (or should say "flying") targets.

I also had a taste in firing shotgun. The sound is so explosive and the recoil is quite powerful. I can feel that my shoulder plate is aching now. Not bad, at least I shot one target!

Hao Hao is 9-Month Old!

Hao Hao is 9-month old!

He is now able to pull up to stand by himself. He can walk quite steadily when we hold both his hands. That is funny, he is learning how to walk before he can stand by himself!

Hao Hao's most recent stunt is to blow his lips and his saliva flies in all direction!

His second pearly white is also emerging. It is very painful when he bites us!

Recently he can sleep longer at night, he sleeps at 9+pm and would usually wake up once at 4+am, but would fall back to sleep after drinking some water or sucking pacifier. On good days, he would sleep until 5+ or 6+am.

He is very interested in our food. Whenever he sees us eating, he would pull our sleeves and make noise until he gets his share. He would then give us his brightest smile to show his satisfaction!

Our Date at Promenade

My first time taking the circle line to town area - Promenade. Thanks to our mothers to look after our kids as we can have a date.

As I reached there earlier than Dear, I decided to take a walk to The Helix - the bridge that links to Marina Bay Sand. Have seen the bridge from far in the car along the expressway, it looks quite different up close and personal.

We had dinner at Saboten at Parco. We ordered salmon katsu set ($29++) and pork loin katsu set ($23++). The cabbage, rice and miso soup is free-flow! The set also includes a scoop of green tea ice-cream. The salmon katsu is great! For for pork katsu, I still prefer the one at Tonkichi at Ngee Ann City.

The little 管家婆 likes to mind DiDi's business. She wants him to "walk" (supported by us),drink water, wear bib... she also likes to help DiDi remove his socks. Whenever DiDi tries to "test water" and crawls into kitchen or toilet, Pei Pei would push his hands away and said "DiDi~" in a dismay manner. Really a big sis now!

She is also sensitive towards our emotion. There was once I cried, she also burst into tears when she saw that.

Hao Hao Pulls Up to Stand by Himself @8-Month 2-Week

Hao Hao likes to stand and walk with support. Last week he started to pull my hands and stand, and on last Saturday, he pulled the edge of the sofa and stood up by himself without any help!

September 09 Babies Play Date

An adventurous attempt to bring both kids to a gathering at my forum friend's house for a September 09 babies play date on last Fri. Of course I'm not really so daring, Dear drove us to the block then I brought the kids to my friend's house.

A total of 14 (September 09)+1 (Pei Pei) babies... really happening. Hao Hao and Pei Pei had a fun time as there were so many toys!

Think Pei Pei enjoyed herself very much. Hao Hao is still too young to understand what was going on.

Hao Hao is 8-month old!

Hao Hao is a good crawler, can crawl very fast, especially after the vacuum cleaner when DaDi is cleaning the floor! He can also pull up to kneel, think he will soon learn to pull up to stand! He can hold on to the edge of the furniture and stands for a short while without support.

Hao Hao likes to eat porridge, think he prefers porridge to milk nowadays. He can finish a big bowl of porridge without fuss, but it is not easy to feed him milk, sometimes we have to resort to give him rice cereal with milk so that he can get the antibodies and anti-oxidant from MaMi's milk.

PorPor says Hao Hao's first tooth is coming out soon, but it cannot be seen clearly yet. He can enjoy more variety of food when his pearly white emerge! Think he likes to bite the teething ring, can hear "crunchy" sounds when he is biting!

Pei Pei is 22nd-month old!

Pei Pei can now use two words to communicate what she wants, e.g. MiMi坐坐, MiMi抱抱. She can also pronounce more words with two syllables, e.g. orange, jacket, biscuit, hello...

Pei Pei is able to identify the owners of certain things, e.g. MiMi的bag, DiDi的milk milk.

The good climber can now climb up the stairs at the playground to reach the top of the slide, and slides down... all by herself!

A weird thing is, she does not use pacifier at her grandparents' house, but at home, when she sees DiDi using pacifier, she also wants to use, only at nap time and bedtime. When she wakes up, she would promptly passes the pacifier to us and says "羞羞" with index finger brushing her face.

Sometimes she wants to sit in the baby pram and refuses to let DiDi to sit. She doesn't like DiDi's saliva dripping on her hand, she would give the dismay look and want us to wipe for her. Sound like she is a bit 霸道, but she is actually a loving big sis... when DiDi cries, she would take a piece of tissue paper and help DiDi to dry his tears, and she sometimes offers toys to DiDi. So sweet of Pei Pei!

Hao Hao Crawls Steadily

Hao Hao can crawl steadily... he can switch from sitting position to crawling position and vice versa. It is very easy to find him, just follow the trace of saliva that he leaves!

My First LG Phone!

I declare that I shall not buy Samsung handphone anymore! The two Samsung handphones that I had "die" within 1+ year.

Wanted to get Nokia phone which is more reliable, but the design of the cheaper phones are not appealing to me.

It is quite tempting to get iPhone, with all the interesting features... but I don't think I will use a phone beyond calling, sms-ing and photo taking... unlikely to surf net with iPhone when I can use laptop at office and home, and I won't surf net when I'm driving.

At the shop, this caught my attention - LG GT505. My first LG phone and my first touch-screen phone! And I'm paying $0 for it as I re-new the contract! Hope it will not disappoint me.

Hao Hao is 7-Month Old!

Hao Hao is 7-month old!

He has tasted more variety of solid food during the past month - pear, pumpkin, carrot, banana, 合掌瓜, papaya, porridge in lean pork soup or pork tail bone soup. It seems that he likes solid food more than milk now. It is getting more challenging to feed him, as he can be distracted easily. If he doesn't feel like eating, there is no way to force way as he would use his tongue and hand to push away.

MaMi's first porridge for Hao Hao... hope it is not too bad as compared to that cooked by PorPor.

The remarkable achievement for this month is that Hao Hao is learning how to crawl, he can "creep" forward to reach for objects that he wants.

Hao Hao can stand with support before he was 6-month old, and now he can stand longer.

Hao Hao can also sit longer now. He finally can "see eye to eye" with Pei Pei when we are dining at restaurant.

Pei Pei is 21-month old!

Pei Pei had her first hair cut by Por Por today, think Por Por is really skillful to cut her hair without making her fuss - cut "secretly" when she was watching TV / distracted by us!

Pei Pei calls us when she sees us - BaBa, MiMi, DiDi, YeYe, MaMa (grandma), PorPor, Ah-Yi - and makes a slight bow to indicate "Thank you". It is good that she picks up good manners.

She can express herself better through words and gesture, e.g. point at the place next to her, and says "sit" to ask us to sit next to her... she would touch her diaper and says "poo poo" when she does big business... She also has expanded her vocabulary, e.g. TV, apple, 杯, sit, etc. She also can say her name as Pei Pei. Though she may not be able to pronounce some words now, she understands the meaning when we talk to her.

Pei Pei would want to have a say in everything. Whenever we go out, she would choose the clothes for BaBa to wear. She would also choose the shoes that she wants to wear when we go out, it seems that she prefers her Crocs shoes from Levin as compared to Hello Kitty shoes from us. She also decides when she wants to walk or when she wants to be carried, and she would choose who to carry her.

She has not been sitting in her pram long long time already, since it is now DiDi's property. In fact she loves to walk on her own, she does not want us to hold her hand, and she seems to be fearless - when we walk behind her, sometimes she does not bother where we are and continues to walk where she likes!

When she sees us doing certain things, she would know what we are going to do next. When BaBa changes clothes, she would say "walk walk", knowing that we are going out. Then she would sit on her little stool to get ready to wear shoes, and asks us for her hat.

Sometimes I wonder where she has learnt the gesture to show that she is unhappy - she would make her mouth "du du" shape and fold her arms.

It has been a while that we can eat buffet slowly and peacefully... thanks our mothers for helping to look after the kids...

We had buffet lunch at Triple Three @Meritus Mandarin Hotel, there is credit card one-for-one promotion.

There is quite a good variety of food... the seafood and sashimi are fresh, but I find the others so-so only. The queue for teppanyaki is long, but the teppanyaki beef and prawn are a bit below expectation.

Dear's legs were almost broken...

Nevertheless, it was quality time spent with Dear...
