Sensitivity to Camera

Pei Pei is more sensitive to camera now... she would smile and strike pose when we point the camera at her!

Posing with Mami...

Posing with her new toy...

Posing with her... err... potty...

Wormeo vs 小蜜蜂

Wormeo = Hao Hao... he always likes to wriggle when we carry him, so we called him 蟲蟲 or Wormie... and since he likes to say "Oh"... Wormie + Oh = Wormeo!

小蜜蜂 = Pei Pei... dunno is she really that hungry or just tam jiak (greedy), we often hear her humming like a bee, instead of "weng weng weng", she hums "mum mum mum mum mum"!!

It is so boring to watch TV alone...

It is much more interesting to have someone watching TV together / fighting for the channel...

It is so shiok to have someone helping to burp...

It is so fun to compare whose foot is bigger / smaller...

It is so sweet to have someone who keeps offering kisses...

Pei Pei's Walking / Running Gears

Walking / running with style!

Mini-Me

When Hao Hao wants me to carry him to walk around the house, I would recall that only 1 year ago that Pei Pei was like this too. But now, she does not even want us to hold her hands when she walks around. See, she refused to be held by Dadi when she walked around the restaurant in Ikea today, and even gave us a cheeky look.

There is a little playing place for kids in the restaurant. She simply "bo chup" me, walked around and played on her own, and "disturbed" other kids when they came in. A little boy was so gentle to stroke her hair, telling me that "her hair dropped". Pei Pei is learning to make her own friends.

Since she was 6-month old, she seemed to be less interested in drinking milk... we had to coax her with toys, handphones, wallets, etc to make her drink milk. It was like a war when it is milk-drinking time. But a few days ago, we bluffed her that Hao Hao drank her bottle of milk and we praised Hao Hao. Since then, she becomes very "on" to drink milk on her own. Think she wants to be praised too.

She is more and more interested in self-feeding, using spoon to eat her food, and using cup or straw to drink water.

Pei Pei has embarked her journey to become independent.

September 2009 Babies Gathering 2

This was happening... 17 September 2009 mummies and babies met up at Curry Favour @Novena Square yesterday. Dear and Pei Pei joined us also.

Though Hao Hao is one of the September 2009 babies, his sister Pei Pei ended up to be the "star" during the gathering. Hao Hao slept until dessert was served, while Pei Pei, as friendly as usual, waved and smiled to everyone.

Baby Sling vs Pouch vs Carrier

Bought Moms-in-Mind (MIM) sling before Pei Pei was born. One good point is that it has extra cloth for covering baby from sun / strong light / breastfeeding. The one we bought is made of silk, so it is quite cooling for baby in hot weather, and yet warming when in cold weather. But this is also a problem, the extra cloth keeps dropping out if not tucked properly. Though it is easier than the pouch to take the baby out, it is quite frustrating to put baby in, because the cloth keeps entangled by the two rings.

pei pei @2-month

Bought a Pupsik pouch recently as I was really irritated by the rings of MIM sling. It is relatively easier to put baby into the pouch, and think I look less-auntie / less-Indo-maid with the pouch haha. Some more after folding, it is much smaller than MIM sling and does not occupy too much space in my bag, easy to bring around. But it is not so easy to get baby out of the pouch!

hao hao @2-month

Both sling and pouch are good to comfort a crying baby... Pei Pei and Hao Hao k.o. in them!

I have never considered buying a baby carrier that many parents are using. Though it is said to provide good support for baby, how does the baby sleep in standing, or rather, hanging position??? Some more it is so bulky to carry around. It is very expensive too.

Of course, the use of sling / pouch / carrier is good only if the walking distance is not too long... shoulders will break if carry for too long. And it is difficult to eat with the baby in front. Nevertheless, it is useful for us... Pei Pei sits in the pram while I carry Hao Hao in sling / pouch when we go shopping.

Denial

Oops... drop Mami's handphone pouch!!

Mami, not me... I didn't take your pouch...

NOT ME!!!

September 2009 Babies Gathering

It was kinda impromptu gathering... was deciding should I cook instant noodles or mee sua for lunch, then saw one of the S'pore Motherhood forum (SMH) Sep mummies' "jio-ing" for dim sum high tea buffet at Zhou's Kitchen @Square 2. Drooling~~

Dig out the "supply-meets-demand" clothes that I made almost 1 year ago... Pei Pei could wear that when she was 6+ month old... but Hao Hao can wear it now!! Demand was waiting for Supply to meet his demand - high tea time... or demand to get to know the girls sitting opposite???

Yummy dim sum!! As usual, I fed Hao Hao and made him k.o. first, so that I can enjoy my food! *evil grin (^_^)

Mummies and babies say cheese!!!

Pei Pei's New Game

Pei Pei found this game is fun: self-feeding!

But of course, she prefers to be fed...

Penguin in the House

Pei Pei walks like a penguin... so cute...

同場加映: Pei Pei striking a pose!

Hao Hao is 2-Month Old!

Hao Hao is 2-month old!

He is able to
  • push himself backwards when we make him sit up for burping
  • push himself from centre of cot to a few cm upwards
  • raise his legs upwards and flips on his side occasionally
  • stare at the light and to follow a moving object
  • smile spontaneously and to make sounds like "oh", "goo", and "ai"
  • sleep slightly longer at night

He loves to smile a lot...

He prefers his "drumsticks" (aka fists) to pacifier...

Hao Hao in the play gym... didn't stay there for long as he prefers to be carried by us...

We give Hao Hao a nickname other than 小B - 蟲蟲 / Wormie - because he keeps wriggling when we carry him... he wants us to carry him and to walk! Sometimes we say that he is a motion sensor - can detect when we are carrying him but not walking, and when our car stops moving - his "alarm" rings when no motion is detected!

My Misconceptions About Parking a Car

I was practising parking skill in the multi-storey carpark by myself. I was so disappointed that for one whole hour, I still couldn't park properly, so I called Dear to come and help.

He saw how I parked the car and told me my problem - I was too perfectionistic - I was trying to park the car in the CENTRE of the lot within a SINGLE attempt! Even experienced drivers may need to do a few adjustments before parking the car in the centre of the lot.

In addition, I always thought that I should learn parking in a lot with no car at its sides... I had phobia of practising with cars at two sides because I didn't want to damage others' cars and my own car. I still have problem "translating" the images from side mirrors to the physical objects - I'm confused by the image of the lines on the ground. In fact, I can park better with the presence of other cars!

The biggest misconception I have - I thought I could follow a certain "formula" as suggested by theory book. But in practice, the formula does not work all the time. Dear always said it is by "feeling". Think I'm too "left-brainer", have to use more right brain when I park the car.

Need more practice...

Musdirson's 1st Gathering with 4 Kids

Musdirson gathering is getting more happening... now we have 4 kids! Kinda difficult to meet outside... so we gathered at Meili's house.

Meili baked a yummy cake for celebration of Levina's birthday... I requested My Melody cake for my birthday next year keke.

Chaotic... all kids were jumping when we tried to take photo...

Since Pei Pei couldn't sit still to take a photo, we wanted to take one without her. Who knows she changed her mind...

Think Pei Pei likes to play with Meili's sons... she disturbed Cheng Cheng while he was watching TV. Then she broke her current record of number of steps walked because she wanted to take the brochure from Cheng Cheng. Before we left, she bid Dylan goodbye with their usual style - knocked their foreheads gently. Then she gave Dylan a kiss on his cheek... her first kiss to a boy haha!

Pei Pei is 16-Month Old!

Pei Pei is 16-month old!

Pei Pei is able to:
  • walk a few steps independently (walk more steps when she wants to take toy from another kid)
  • climb up and down from sofa or bed
  • nod her head to indicate "yes" (finally, she used to shake her head all the time)
  • say "meow" (other than bear, she also likes cats)
  • put her finger on her lips to indicate "sshhh" (when Didi cries)
  • use spoon to feed herself and drink using straw (though not 100% of food / drink goes into her mouth)
  • "feed" soft toys and Didi with her milk bottle
  • build a tower of a few cubes
  • kiss people's face
Her lower incisors are making their appearance now... having total of 6 teeth!

Think she loves to play with her brother, always sayang him and rocks him to sleep in the bouncer.

She throws tantrum whenever she is unhappy, and screams at a super high pitch... here is the evidence - she refuses to eat as she wants to play.

But she is so lovely when she is cooperative. She "cooks" the candies while Mami is feeding her, so cute.

Loving Sister

Hao Hao: Waahh~~

Pei Pei: Don't cry, sayang sayang...

5 min later...

Hao Hao: Waahh~~

Pei Pei: Tell me, what do u want?!

Pei Pei: Okie lah, I carry u...

Pei Pei is such a loving sister...

Poke Poke Poke

Brought Pei Pei and Hao Hao for vaccination last Fri.

At the first sight of Hao Hao, Doc commented that he still had jaundice, so need to do a blood test for liver function. Poor Hao Hao... Doc poked the back of his left hand, turned the needle, could not draw the blood, then poked right hand, turned the needle and finally blood came out, only then Hao Hao started to fuss... so heart pain to see Doc poked his little hands... sobz. And because of this, we had to postpone his 6-in-1 vaccination after we have obtained the blood test result.

Pei Pei wanted to get out of the room... think she must have sensed that something was wrong when Doc was drawing blood from Hao Hao. When it was her turn to take MMR vaccination, she kept looking back to see what Doc was doing to her, and she cried for a few seconds. Must be quite painful.

Received Hao Hao's blood test result on Sat, so relieved to hear from Doc that nothing is wrong, and his jaundice should be cleared in another 1 to 2 months. So Hao Hao had 6-in-1 vaccination and the first assessment on Mon. He only made a sound when the needle was poked. So proud of the brave boy! Doc commented that he is a cheerful boy, very smiley (^.^)

Maiden Voyage... Continued

I had the real maiden voyage yesterday! Many first times...

1st time driving auto car on the road...

1st time driving with kids behind me...

1st time driving a long (relatively longer than during lessons 6 years ago) distance - "cross island" from northeast to south...

1st time driving on expressway...

1st time driving in multi-storey carpark of HDB and shopping mall...

1st time strike kerb and scratch the tyre of my own car... kua kua kua~~

Need to practise more to build up my confidence on the road. I kept asking Dear "Am I in the centre of the road???" And I also need to polish my skill in parking, driving in multi-storey carpark and changing lane... the "master piece" on the tyre was created when I was driving down the multi-storey carpark in the shopping mall :p

Thanks Dear for teaching me... saving my $$ on refresher course and save myself from scoldings from the instructors... I must admit that my driving skill is very poor. And I must thank my 2 angels for being cooperative during my maiden voyage... they didn't make too much noise to distract me... they were sitting in the car seat behind by themselves, as Dear had to sit next to me to guide me.

Celebration of Dear's Birthday @Serenity Spanish Bar & Restaurant

We celebrated Dear's birthday at Serenity Spanish Bar & Restaurant @VivoCity last nite.

Hao Hao had his first ride on MRT... sleeping soundly at first...

When he woke up, he was puzzled by the sounds in MRT...

The restaurant has 2 parts, one is the indoor restaurant with full blast air-con, the other one is non-air-con bar with sea view and live band. We decided to enjoy the sea view and live band. We ordered their signature dish Paella Valenticiana. Dear had Erdinger beer while I had mocktail Mama Mia. We also had Pastel de Chocolate for dessert.

The ambience is nice, with the live band singing Spanish song. The food is quite good, but is a bit expensive... Paella Valenticiana is $40++ serving 2... in fact, one person can finish the whole dish if not having other food. Luckily there is credit card 1-for-1 promotion, so we had one dish each...

Hao Hao: This tastes sweeter than milk milk...

Hao Hao: Wow, I feel high after drinking this...

Hao Hao was trying to think of some pick-up lines to attract girls... hmm, wrong target...

Happy birthday to Dear!

Pei Pei's First Steps

Pei Pei has gained more confidence in walking! She can walk very fast with holding our hands or her toy car.

She also learns to take a few steps herself. That day I asked her to pass something to Dadi. Initially she was holding to the side of the bed and tried to stretch her arm, but Dadi pretended he couldn't reach it, so she had no choice but to walk two steps to pass... she looked so cute, like robotic walk.
